Premier responds to Steve Jobs’ death

GOODBYE STEVE: Steve Jobs, 1955-2010
Alston, NCD, Oct 7 – The passing of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been mourned in Alston, a most unlikely place.
News reached the capital yesterday afternoon of Jobs’ passing.
Premier Daniel Anderson released a statement following Jobs’ death. “It is indeed a sad thing to learn of Steve Jobs’ passing. While it is no secret that I, or indeed most of Sirocco, am no Apple fan, his contribution to the world of technology is undeniable. My thoughts and prayers are with the Jobs family and all his friends and colleagues at Apple.”
Jobs had led Apple from 1976 to 1985 and again from 1997 to August this year, backing down as CEO following health problems. He will be remembered as the engine behind many of Apple’s successes, such as the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad.
Jobs was 56.
