Libertarians merge together, second political party formed

Tre’wei, ZG, Jun 9 – Sirocco has a new political party this evening devoted to free market libertarianism.

Zonian leader Nicholas Woode-Smith this evening submitted a request to form a new political party in opposition to the ruling Federal Party. After supplying information including registration address, ideology and official colours, at 11:37PM NZST (1:37PM SAST) the registration of the new Siroccan Libertarian Party (SLP) was officially accepted by Premier Daniel Anderson.

The acceptance text read as follows:

Be it hereby documented that on this day, Saturday, June 9, 2012 A.D., an organisation of like-minded peoples has been registered as the “Siroccan Libertarian Party” and constituted as a full political party eligible to partake in local and national elections as of 11:37PM NZST/1:37PM SAST.

“Recent events have lead us to realizing that we, the people of the Zonese Shogunate and citizens of Sirocco, deserve better and are willing to fight for it.” Nicholas Woode-Smith, leader of the SLP, said to the Times a short while ago. “We will advance the tides of liberty so we can make this great nation greater.”

Premier Anderson, who leads the incumbent Federal Party, voiced his thoughts shortly afterwards.

“It is great to see that the people of the Dominion of Zona have begun partaking in national affairs, and that while Federal and the Libertarians will have their differences, I am sure that the two parties can work together for the good of the nation.”

The arrival of the SLP brings to an end over a year-and-a-half of solely Federal dominance in Siroccan politics.

The Times understands the party is currently deciding on a logo and colours to use.
