Atomic calendar introduced in Sirocco

Alston, NCD, Dec 19 – A calendar honouring the Atomic Age has today been introduced in Sirocco for a trial run to see if it is feasible to run a dual-calendar system.

The Atomic Calendar officially began on 16 July 1945, the date of the Trinity atomic test in Nevada, USA, with years being counted from this date. The calendar year runs from 16 July to 15 July the following year.

The current year, 67 AE (Atomic Era), will finish on 15 July 2013.

Premier Daniel Anderson said that “it is a good contribution to our very Atomic Age culture, and I hope that this idea will work according to plan. It will not replace the Gregorian Calendar in Sirocco, it will merely supplement it.”

If the trial is successful, the Atomic Calendar will be implemented sometime in 2013.
