Premier makes visit to Greater Hagley

VISITOR: The Premier today visited Greater Hagley as part of his tour of New Zealand’s South Island.
Greater Hagley, Sep 5 – Premier Daniel Anderson today made his first visit to Sirocco’s new South Island with an official visit to the territory of Greater Hagley.
Initially planned for yesterday but postponed to today as a result of inclement weather, the Premier visited Greater Hagley this morning as part of his tour of New Zealand’s South Island.
Greater Hagley was one of four parcels of land located in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, alongside Sandford, Maxia and Trinity, gifted to Sirocco from Zealandia in April.
While in Greater Hagley, Anderson noted the scenic splendour of the territory, and noted its popularity with Christchurch residents, many of whom were playing sport in the brisk winds that prevented yesterday’s visit.
Anderson said it was unfortunate that he was not able to visit Sandford, Maxia or Trinity, but expressed enthusiasm that he would be able to on a later visit.
He had also hoped to visit during a brief trip to the South Island shortly after the gifting, but circumstances prevented his travel further into Christchurch than the outer suburb of Hornby.
The Premier is tonight staying in Greymouth and expects to travel to Wanaka via the Haast Pass tomorrow.
