Premier Indicates New Legislation to Arrive in 78, Pledges Support for Ukraine

Havilland, WE, Jul 16 · 1 Trinity 78 – The arrival of the Atomic year 78 will bring a range of new legislation covering several topics to Sirocco, the Premier announced during Atomic New Year celebrations in the capital last night.

The traditional playing of nuclear tests set to the 1812 Overture heralded the new year at midnight in Havilland, which bills itself as the “hypocentre” of Atomic New Year festivities.

Today marks ten years since the Atomic calendar was officially adopted on July 16, 2013 (1 Trinity 68).

The Premier, Mr. Anderson, used the occasion to announce that new legislation will be introduced over the coming months, some of which is intended to replace older legislation.

The new legislation will cover the introduction of a new currency, recognition of micronational pseudonyms and other name changes, an update to national symbols, and the management of legislation itself.

The legislation is currently in the drafting stage, but the Premier said that it was the Government’s aim to have the legislation in place within the coming months, and no later than the end of the Atomic year (July 15, 2024).

The Premier also addressed the ongoing war in Ukraine and rising international tensions by affirming Sirocco’s support for Ukraine and hoping that peace would soon return to the battered country.

“The people of Sirocco stand with Ukraine in their fight for liberty and freedom from Russian domination. We hope that the Ukrainian people soon know peace once again, and that they will emerge a more united nation with a bright future in the West. The actions of the Russian state against Ukraine and its people are wholly unjustified and have no place in a civilised society, and we condemn them in the strongest possible terms.”

“It is our firm belief that weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, must never be used. The use of such weapons should be considered unthinkable and be avoided and deterred at all costs. The atom must only ever be used for peace and the betterment of the world.”

The Premier closed by saying that the Government will look closely into ways to further the country’s support for the Ukrainian war effort.
